This issue in a few words

This issue continues the new editorial line-up which began in the last edition, structuring our publication into Articles of Original Research, Brief Articles and Communications, Review Articles, Experimental Protocols, and Case Studies, while maintaining a final section of Abstracts from Scientific Meetings.

The Original Articles section begins with a study on the activity of red rose extract (Pierre de Ronsard) on the gene expression of B lymphocytes. The results presented suggest an interest in pursuing this line of research (Biomed. Biopharm. Res., 2023; 20(2): 3-13. DOI: 10.19277/bbr.20.2.317).

The article that follows analyses a topic of the utmost importance and topicality by evaluating the daily consumption of liquids from different beverages in institutionalised individuals in a group of residential homes in the Lisbon area. The study shows that, in this sample, only individuals undergoing artificial nutrition fulfil the recommendations for daily water consumption (Biomed. Biopharm. Res., 2023; 20(2):14-27. DOI: 10.19277/bbr.20.2.324).
An original article on the sensory analysis of beverages based on the fruit of the Baobab tree (Adonsonia digitata L.), referred to for their nutritional and functional properties of interest to human health, is next in our sequence. This study aims to assess the potential purchase intentions of these drinks to be introduced onto the consumer market (Biomed. Biopharm. Res., 2023; 20(2): 28-42. DOI: 10.19277/bbr.20.2.327).
Another original research article explores solid shampoo as an innovative element in cosmetics. Its more sustainable character, related to the absence of water in its composition, together with features such as washability and conditioning, justify further characterisation (Biomed. Biopharm. Res., 2023; 20(2); 43-57. DOI: 10.19277/bbr.20.2.326).

This section ends with a study on the antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles incorporated into magnetic nanocomposites and synthesised with the crude methanolic extract of Piper solmsianum
(Biomed. Biopharm. Res., 2023; 20(2); 58-73. DOI: 10.19277/bbr.20.2.329 ).
